Portrait Project – 23/52

23

My precious hearts.

I ‘asked’ these three to drop everything and to stay together in one spot for an impromptu after dinner photo shoot. I just remember I don’t have a picture of them together, and I would like to have one. One good one.

Well, dog had nothing in particular that he had to do, so that was kinda interesting how bored he looked, couldn’t tell what his problem was. My kids, on the other hand, was a different matter. There were loads of fun things to do especially when you had no homework – it’s fallow week this week (yay!)- so to sit still, even for 5 minutes was apparently too hard. It was like trying to stop the Energizer Bunnies from buzzing when there was no on/off button insight.

In the end, this is the image that I love most from the bunch. My precious three.

Note: No dog dies of boredom during or after the photo session. The undeserving dog even had a treat as a reward for his patience during the whole ordeal. He was extraordinarily more expressive and lively then.

happy birthday, Bruno!

bruno 10 years

My dog Bruno turned 10 today. Hip hip hoorah! His greyish muzzle shows his age, but I can’t say the same about his behaviour. He still behaves like a pup. It’s true what they say, Labradors have a (very) long period of puppyhood. In Bruno’s case, I’m afraid, it’s never ending.

Bruno is a well travelled dog. He was born in Lommel (Belgium), 10 years ago, and moved with us to Australia when he was 5. He left Belgium a month before we did, and he had to stay for 1 month in quarantine in Sydney. He has his own passport, and I remember that his travel/medical document was one centimetre thicker than all our family’s combined.

He is a happy 10 year old dog. He makes me and my family happy, and we are endlessly entertained by him. I am a less crazy person thanks to him. His healthy vibe gives such great comfort and joy. I do believe that home is where my dog is.

Happy birthday, my gorgeous pup!

Labradors have such a good nature toward people, especially children. I used to have golden retriever, and he was gorgeous and still had that puppy face even though he was 13 years old. He died last year from cancer 🙁 I have 3/4 golden retriever and 1//4 German Shepperd now, but he’s more golden retriever than German Shepperd! 🙂ReplyCancel

Sorry to hear about your loss a year ago. I’m sure that dog had a great life with you and your family.

Three quarter German shepherd and a quarter retriever? Interesting mix..!ReplyCancel

Day 362 #Project365

This was the dip after Christmas before we all get excited again to welcome the new year. It’s the day when reality started to tap on your shoulder and reminded you that you still have the whole household to take care of even when you are in a ‘holiday’.

Well, I was busy all day doing chores and almost forgot that I haven’t posted anything. Thank you Bruno, my always ready back-up subject. He’s ready to go to bed, in fact he was already on his bed while I took this (which explains his sleepy head face). What a good boy…

Day 352 #Project365

351-365, whiskey the dog

Nikon D90 | AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED | ISO500 | f/5.6 | 1/100|

This is Whiskey. He is a super duper active 2-year-old dog. He was surrounded and totally spoiled with treats by a bunch of kids today, maybe that’s why he looked so happy. I’m so glad to see that other dog finding it hard to stay clean. Like my dog.  Whiskey here was covered in cob/spider web all over his face and body, with some dried leaves and dust stuck on it too..

It’s a very different experience trying to capture Whiskey in a photo compare to my own dog, Bruno. Bruno is 9 and big and calm while this one is tiny and quick, and he just cannot keep still. I was lucky with this shot, I think he was just taking a breather before bouncing off in the yard again.

Day 182 #Project365

182-365 paw.jpg

He’s on the floor minding his own business. Then I sat close to him to give him some love and caress him. Rubbing him here, scratching his neck there, the way he likes it…Then he pinned my leg down to hold me close and continue with what I was doing. That’s how we roll in this house. Hairy love fest, 24/7.
