Portrait Project – 52/52

52

My final post of this year’s 52 Portrait project is here. A day late, but that’s okay. I’m sure you’d understand one’s need to sleep after staying up longer, having too much fun with friends and family, who gathered together in the last hours of 2014.

Allow me to share some of the things I feel grateful for in the year 2014 (don’t worry, I have a lot of things I am grateful for, but I am only sharing the short version here):

  • I am grateful that I am surrounded by lovely friends and family who helped me to navigate my ways through 2014. A small number of these individuals are captured above, the rest I didn’t get to capture in the midst of the new year’s celebration last night
  • I am grateful and glad that I successfully completed 2014’s personal photography project, despite hiccups here and there. There was so much to learn
  • I am grateful for people who have put up with me and allowed me to practice my skills in portrait photography on them
  • I am grateful for those who trusted me to be involved in their project and paid good money for my services (yes you, my clients of 2014!).

I still don’t know what my next project of 2015 will be. But be sure, there will be something. As a part of my resolution, I will commit myself to hold myself accountable for my own growth. No more BS, no more excuses. I have a good feeling about this new year.  I’m sure it’s going to be challenging like any other years, but I think it will be exciting. I am allowing myself to be optimistic. Try it!

I wish you all a glorious year ahead. Happy New Year 2015.

Portrait Project – 51/52

Christmas eve in my house was a bit of chaos. Unlike most people in Australia, our family open our Christmas presents in Christmas eve. Right after mass, and after enjoying our precious time eating scrumptious dinner together as a family, then it was time for us to open our presents. In my head that worked perfectly. In reality, it was a total chaos. Right after we got home, the begging started, and promises were made to open only one present before dinner. But before you know it, the floor was covered in gift wrappings. Not one, but all presents were miraculously opened!

I wanted to take nice pictures of family members opening their presents with a nice twinkling christmas tree in the background. But no. This was the only decent picture of Ms 6 that night. She was staring closely at our dog who was busy chewing his Christmas treat.

It’s not the picture that I planned, but I love it. It’s chaos, and it’s our kind of chaos, which was the best fun! Hope your Christmas was as ‘chaotic’ as ours was.

Have a great holiday!

This portrait was taken from my last photo gig of this year. I was lucky with this client because she was so lovely and a joy to work with. Her smile came so naturally and look at those beautiful eyes, she made my job so easy. A perfect project to end 2014.

My mermaid, and her little mermaid friends in the background, performing Mermaids from the Peter Pan story.

It was a cute 5 minutes performance to mark the end of these little cuties ballet ‘journey’ for the year. To have this high voltage of cuteness in tutus running around had really brightened my day and lifted my spirit up, despite the hard pouring rain outside. Tutus FTW!

30 Nov 2014.

A cuddle in the early birthday morning, when you still smell like sleep, when teeth haven’t met brush&toothpaste, and when everyone was wearing what they were wearing the night before. It’s the best kind of birthday cuddles of all.
