Day 282 #Project365

282-365 ripped jeans

Saying goodbye is always hard. This time I had to say goodbye to an ‘old friend’. This old jeans of mine and I have gone way back. We were perfect for each other, we were together almost every day. It was like a match made in heaven. (We all know how hard it is to find the perfect pair of jeans.)

Then I started noticed a rip, but I didn’t care. The rip was ‘expected’, you see, it was a ‘controlled’, pre-destressed from the manufacturer kinda rip. So it was fine. Totally gave this pair a bit of character.

Then the rip got larger, then they were more and they were everywhere through the usual tear&wear along the years. Cut the story short, the long pants became a ripped bermuda, and we were still cruising along together through many summers. Oh, they happy days.

This year’s spring clean forced me to have a close look on all my clothes, and I noticed more rips and tears on my favourite pair than I could care to admit. The time has come to say goodbye to this old friend. I’m gonna miss ya old pants…

Day 179 #Project365

179-365 paint.jpg

I love watching my kids making art. Yes, it’s a messy business, but it’s a cleaning time worth doing. This afternoon Ms 4 decided to express herself in colours.  I had to stay close since I still want my walls to stay white once she’s done. I managed to take a photo of this plate before all the colours got mixed, and I’m happy with the results. All colourful and differently textured things in one plate.

Day 133 #Project365

133-365

This is the cover of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, a book that I’ve been meaning to read for so long but haven’t. Not quite sure why. I took it with me as one of reading choices whenever I went away for a weekend or a holiday, but somehow other things always won the place for my selection.

As I was not feeling like doing anything strenuous today, trying to beat the stupid flu bug, again I picked this book from my bed side table and thought this is it, this would be the day I read the book. As soon as I sat on the couch however, I realized how special the texture of the book was. (I bought the whole series for Hubby’s Christmas present two years ago and especially picked the ones with the beautiful cloth covers).

Intrigued by the book cover’s texture I picked up my iPhone and took a photo of the cover. It’s a tricky surface to capture with the rough/matte background and shiny golden detail in the middle.

Now I’m feeling quite tired I think I’ll just lie down in front of TV. I think the book has an no-read spell that repels me from reading it.

this is a great image – and absolutely captures what you were trying to achieve. smooth dragon, but the cover is otherwise full of texture.ReplyCancel

Day 100 #Project365

100-365 tree

Lucky me! This tree is beautiful and standing just right in front of my friend’s front porch, making access easy all year round. It’s huge. And leafy. It’s been autumn for over a month but its leaves still green, that’s the only thing that was quite disappointing. I’ve taken a photo of this tree before where the leaves were still on the tree but the color has all changed to yellow. Still one of my favourite iPhone photos to date.

I don’t know why I love taking photos of trees. Might be all the contrasting elements about it. Look at the contrasting textures. The trunk of the tree, this tree in particular, is so rough, bold, and full of hard lines. The leaves have their own texture, a lot softer one but far from smooth. The green against the rough brown strike a winning combo making it nice to look at.
