Day 157 #Project365

157-365 coffee art

I know I’ve said my piece about coffee/latte art back in April (see Day 101 post), but that couldn’t stop me from taking a photo of another one I had this morning. This coffee art was lovely, but the coffee lacked the oomph of that coffee intensity that I love and desperately needed this morning. But it was sustenance, so I gratefully (desperately?) finished the cup. The chocolates on the side certainly helped.

Now, this is heaven in a cup. It’s a chilli hot chocolate that looked and tasted DIVINE!

It was a very cold and super windy morning in Canberra. I could handle the cold and the rain just fine, but the über cold wind just chilled you to the bone, so unbearable. Thank God for Koko Black who provided me with these cups of warm beverages that literally warm me to the core. The chilli (Belgian) Hot Chocolate was so perfect and hit all the right spots. Coffee for sustenance, chocolate for pure enjoyment and warm&fun companions to share the moment with. They all made the wet freezing winter morning bearable.

Day 101 #Project365

101-365 coffee

As a coffee lover I learned a long time ago not to judge a cup of coffee by its coffee art. An elaborate and pretty coffee art does not always guarantee a good cup. The coffee that I had this morning proved this theory. I enjoyed my morning coffee with a friend in a new place today, and it was a very nice coffee even when presented with a so so coffee art. I guess substance wins over look anytime. Look certainly helps, but without substance it would mean nothing. It’s like drinking a burnt coffee after admiring its intricately ‘drawn’ flower coffee art. All you remember after is that bitter taste in your mouth. Not nice.

To coffee lovers out there, may we be wary and never get too excited when presented with elaborate coffee art in our mug. Take a sip and judge after. If coffee is good, be reasonably grateful for the all round coffee experience. Then you have to come back to the same place twice, and only if your coffee experience is good each time those three times, you must tell your other coffee lover friends and share the coffee love.

*coffee art refers to designs created on the tops of espresso based drinks by a Barista (source: Webster’s Online Dictionary)

Day 59 #Project365

59-365 coffee bean

Little things can make people happy every day. For me, coffee is included in this category. Twice a day served in a big mug, bang! instant happiness. Look how pretty the coffee beans are, all ready to make me happy!

Other little things that make me happy are little conversations I have with my kids. This one I had this morning still makes me smile.

Ms.4’s teacher at school always commented on how happy and energetic she looks in the morning. Every day. Happy everyday, that’s what the teacher said.

This morning I asked her as we walked to her classroom. (She wasn’t walking she was skipping while holding my hand)
Me: You look happy this morning. Are you happy?
Ms.4: YES!
Me: Why are you so happy?
Ms.4: Mama! (rolling her eyes), I am 4 years old! I am growing, of course I’m happy!
Then she shook her head at me as if she couldn’t believe how silly I was that I needed to ask.
