Portrait Project – 48/52

30 Nov 2014.

A cuddle in the early birthday morning, when you still smell like sleep, when teeth haven’t met brush&toothpaste, and when everyone was wearing what they were wearing the night before. It’s the best kind of birthday cuddles of all.

Portrait Project – 43/52

The Annual Nara Candle Festival was on last Saturday. Before I continue this blog, let me just tell you that I forgot to charge my camera battery that day, and left with a flat battery 10 minutes after we arrived. So, just to manage expectation here, there will be no beautiful candle glow at night shots. None.

There were a lot of things happening at the festival even before it got dark. There were art martial demonstrations (there were many type, I tell you), kids arts and cultural activities (kite flying, lantern making), and rows and rows of food stalls. At one point I plonked myself down in a big circle to watch a sumo wrestling demonstration. This was when I took a couple of shots, before my camera decided to call it a day.

For the past few years I’ve been meaning to visit the Tulip Top Garden. Only this year we finally managed to go there. The garden opens for roughly one month long every year, so I felt lucky we ‘caught’ it in time this year.

The garden was beautiful, the flowers were gorgeous -the tulips looked so vibrant and healthy- and even the weather was kind to us that day. The flowers in the garden provided a very colourful and perfect backdrop for this week’s portrait project.

Portrait Project – 41/52

Portraits of family in the ‘wild’. This was our first camping since last summer (January 2014), so it’s been awhile; and it seemed that everyone was missing it. The time spent outdoor was enjoyed to the max. Dog especially loved to bask in the morning light.
