Day 177 #Project365

177-365 nite bus.jpg

Felt like I kept bumping into walls today, figuratively speaking. It’s a mammoth effort to shake myself out of the frustration. Push further was the way to go. The idea to photograph the street in front of my house (again) came as I was just day dreaming and looking out of my window. I’ve always been fascinated by moving lights and long exposures, so I thought I’d capture my street in a different ‘light’.

I had to wait awhile to get the right composition and the right timing so I could capture the light movement out of a moving bus passing my street. The finishing product is exactly what I had planned in my mind. Finally something worked! Small joy.

Day 164 #Project365

164-365 woods.jpg

This was my view on my way back from my morning run today that I captured using my iPhone. I reckon this bench is THE bench to sit on in the cold winter mornings as it allows you to rest and basking in the warmth of the early morning sun. I’d better remember it the next time I go for a walk, as today I was warm enough after my run I gave the free ‘warm bench treatment’ a miss.

Day 151 #Project365

151-365 dusk

The time when the sun rises and sets have to be the most appealing time to photograph. The light being so low at both dawn and dusk makes everything looks a bit more dramatic.  Being NOT a morning person in a major way, I don’t get to see a lot of sun rises. On the rare occasion that I did wake up early enough I was always so amazed at how beautiful everything was in the morning, and always promised myself that I would get up earlier more often. Ah, the many empty promises I gave myself. I still have sunsets, though, and I intend to catch and enjoy every one of them. To the max.

Day 139 #Project365

139-365 bald tree139-365 oval tree

Today’s post features two of my favorite trees. They are two completely different trees, as you can see above. I have posted a photo of each tree in previous months, but again, as they are my favorites,  they will be featured probably many more times than you like or care.

The bald tree I see everyday during the weekdays as it was located between my kids’ two schools. I took this photo around 9AM after the school drop-off, when the fog was still very thick and the temperature only reached 1 degree. I took the photo with my iPhone and used the internal photo app inside another app called Path for the post processing.

The other tree is the tree I fondly named ‘my’ oval tree. It’s a beautiful healthy tree that’s located at the Oval (field with athletic tracks) across the street from my house. The photo was taken around 5PM when the weather was nice with beautiful patchy clouds patterns and around 13 degrees (we reached the top of 16 degrees today, beautiful and sunny).

This was a typical autumn day in Canberra. Foggy cloudy freezing and depressing morning does not always mean an equally depressing cold day ahead. Just like the day we had today.  The warmth from the sun and a beautiful blue sky always makes up for the freezing and ‘appalling’ misty morning.

Day 136 #Project365

136-365

With the day I had it was surprising that energy at all to take a single photo  let alone posted it. It might not be a wise decision to change my 50mm lens to a kit lens at the beginning of the week either, but here we are. Here’s one quick shot after a long day, a last look of the street before we turned in for the day.
