Day 280 #Project365

280-365 wet leaves 1

Today was a very wet Saturday in Canberra. The rain started from early morning all through the day and I suspected a soft drizzle even now as I was writing this post after the kids have gone to bed.

Droplets were everywhere. The greens were greener. Most colours saved white have gone darker. Richer. All the plants got drenched. Some droplets on the leaves looked like sparkling gems, very pretty.

These images were my capture of the wet world around my house today.

Day 145 #Project365

145-365 wet plant

Here is the dark side of autumn. It’s the phase after the leaves have changed their colours. I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s the phase where the leaves started shrinking from the cold, some even looked rotten like these leaves from my rose-bush. They’d go like that until they could no longer hold on to the branches that a weak wind or some rain drops would cause them to fall off and landed in the ground joining all the deceased ones. Rotten. Wet.

What happens to the flower? Oh, well, let’s not talk about what happens to the flowers shall we. Just look at it. Depressed much?

Day 76 #Project365

It was a bit disheartening today when it started to rain late afternoon, especially because I had zero shot taken for the day. Even worse was the fact that I had zero idea for today’s post. All I knew was that I had to shoot quickly before the day got even darker. So when there was a slight pause in with the rain I took a walk around my wet backyard to find something interesting.

First the pink roses caught my attention simply because they looked so dry amongst the wetness around them. The roof of the deck protected them from the downpour. Then I stepped away from the deck and saw it. From a far it actually looked just like floating water drops and looked so pretty. On a closer look I realized they were water drops on spider web. Aren’t they look just like little diamond necklaces?

Day 58 #Project365

58-365 wet petal

It’s two more days before summer is officially over. I say, let’s kill it already. Summer has been having a bit of a problem performing, really. Yes we had a couple of days of brilliance, but the rest was a total disappointment. We even had a maximum temperature of 6 degrees I recalled. Let’s just all get over it and give a warm welcome to autumn. It’s been wet the whole day, I think autumn has arrived!

Day 30 #Project365

30-365

We will face a wet week ahead. From now until Sunday it will be showers (in various degree of intensity) in Canberra. This week is the last week of school holiday. The kids will be back at school next Monday whether they are ready or not.

Hopefully the wet weather can help me adjusting the kids ‘body clock’ from the holiday mode to the school mode. No more late night sleeping, no more sleeping in. Yeah. Fun week ahead! Brace yourself…..as I kept telling myself.
