Day 252 #Project365

252-365 take-off.jpg

There were usually other more interesting and much nicer birds hanging out on the electricity wires around my house. But not today. As soon as I came outside two magpies were all I saw. One was standing closer to where I stood, and I could just feel his evil eyes staring down at me. He had this -I-want-to-swoop-and-peck-your-ear-’til-it-bleeds- look, I could see it well with the zoom lens I used.*

Then he was off. To terrorize some innocent cyclist and pedestrians in the neighbourhood, I’m sure. Bloody magpies…

* special thanks to A for lending me his lens and let me take it home to play a bit more

Nice. My dream lens. One day.
The magpies are just doing what all animals do when it’s breeding season – defending their home against us predatory humans.ReplyCancel

It’s a totally different feeling to be able to look that far with this lens.

🙂 I totally get what or why the magpies are doing the crazy swoops. I just think it has gone a bit out of hand because they are super duper aggressive here in Canberra. …I have to go elsewhere to do my running that’s how scared I am in my neighbourhood..ReplyCancel

  • […] my friend lent me his telelens last Saturday, I tried whenever I can to use it until the time I have to return it back in a couple of days. So […]ReplyCancel

Day 216 #Project365

216-365 seagulls.jpg

My first Bird in Flight snap! It was unplanned, as I was busy trying to catch good shots of 5 kids under 5 on bikes. The day was beautiful, even the birds looked like they had so much fun just hanging out under the sun.

Birds+kids = birds chased by kids, that’s how I caught this one. It’s not a perfect Bird in Flight snap, but it captured the feeling of this afternoon for me. All happy, free and glorious under the sun. A gorgeous Friday afternoon at the Nation’s Capital.
